Size and shape of your metal cards

Our metal business cards are available in various sizes and shapes.

The Standard size amounts to 86 × 54 mm - However, we can also produce customised formats on request.

Your options:

  • Maximum size: until 90 × 54 mm
  • Minimum size: from 30 × 30 mm

For larger formats up to 1000 × 500 mm please contact us directly - we will be happy to provide you with a customised quote.

Material thicknesses of our metal cards

For Stainless steel- and Copper cards we recommend a standard thickness of 0.3 mmwhich can be set to 0.4 mm up to 1.0 mm can be customised.

Aluminium cards are slightly thicker as standard to ensure greater stability. The material thickness here is 0.5 mm, also customisable on request.

Titanium cards we offer as standard with 0.5 mm are also optionally 0.6 mm or 0.8 mm possible.

Basic colours and colour options for metal cards

The natural colour of your metal card depends on the chosen material - for example Stainless steel, copper, aluminium or Titanium.

If you want an individual colour design, there are two high-quality options available:

Plating: The entire card is covered with a thin layer of colour - including the edges - for a completely uniform appearance. Available colours: Gold, matt black, bronze, rose gold, grey, red, dark blue, light blue, white and Purple.

Colour printing: Alternatively, your cards can be custom-printed. Please note that a narrow edge (>0.5 mm) must remain unprinted to avoid colour gradients. All colour shades are possible, but the edges of the card remain in the original metal colour.

Printing process for metal cards

Various high-quality processes are available for printing on metal cards:

Screen printing: A popular technique for applying brilliant colours to the card surface. All CMYK colours can be applied - ideal for clear designs and logos.

CMYK Offset-printing: This method is particularly suitable for Photos and Fine colour gradations. Please note that printing on metal has a different effect than on paper, as the card colour (e.g. silver for stainless steel) can influence the colour reproduction.

For exact colour fidelity, we recommend the use of Pantone colours.

Etching of metal cards

Exclusive designs with depth effect

With the Etching technology individual designs such as Logos, lettering or Sample precisely on your metal card.

Both sides of the card can be designed to emphasise important information in a particularly impressive way.

For even stronger effects, the etched areas can also be filled with colour to create high-contrast and elegant accents.

Surface finishing for metal cards

Give your metal card a personalised touch with various surface finishes.

The three most popular variants are

  • Mirror: High-gloss surface that reflects light and ensures a particularly elegant appearance.
  • Hairline: Fine, brushed line structure that gives the card a subtle elegance.
  • Matt: Soft, modern surface with a pleasant feel and stylish understatement.

Tip:

Mirror and matt finishes can also be combined on request to create unique and personalised designs.

Background pattern for metal cards

Choose from 18 exclusive background patterns to give your card extra character. The patterns can be engraved on the entire card or in specific areas.

Please simply tell us the desired sample number when ordering (e.g. QR-009).

Metal card with chip - RFID and NFC cleverly integrated

As metal blocks electromagnetic waves, metal cards with RFID or NFC chips require a special solution:

A recess (25 mm diameter, round or square) is made in the card. The chip is then inserted into a printable chip container.

Technical information:

  • Minimum thickness of the metal card: 0.8 mm
  • Minimum distance between the chip and the edge of the card: 0.5 mm to avoid damage    

Note for NFC chips:

With metal cards, the transmission of data can be 1-2 seconds take longer. This is because the chip is in a fixed position and can only be read there - in contrast to PVC cards, where the antenna is integrated into the entire card.

Design tip:

The chip container can be creatively designed and laminated with a logo or motif, for example. Please note: As the chip container is not made of metal, slight colour deviations from the metal surface may occur.

Personalisation of your metal cards

Make every card uniquePersonalisation allows individual data such as names or membership numbers to be applied.

You can choose from three high-quality processes for personalising your metal cards:

Laser engraving:
The preferred method for metal cards. You determine the font and font size yourself. The engraving colour varies depending on the material and surface - it often appears elegant in silver.

Screen printing:
Here you can choose the colour, font and size of your choice. Please note: Colour looks different on metal than on paper, as the metallic background can slightly influence the colour tone.

Etching:
Personalisations can be permanently etched into the card. Particularly elegant: with negative etching, only the personalisation remains, the surrounding area is removed - for an elegant embossed effect. Optionally, etched areas can be coloured to achieve strong contrasts.

Handwritten or signature field on metal cards

If you would like a metal card with a handwriting field, please note: such fields are only available in White This can detract from the elegant effect of the card, as handwriting on metal is not shown to its best advantage.

Our recommendation: Opt for laser engraving instead - it gives your card a professional, high-quality and elegant character.

Hairline metal card - elegance in the finest structure

Our Hairline metal card impresses with an exclusive surface finish: the finest horizontal lines - as thin as a hair - create an elegant, dynamic structure.

This elegant metal card comes with a black coating which creates a subtle metallic texture.

Hologram seal - protection and exclusivity for your metal card

Rely on security and individuality: with a Hologram seal protect your metal card effectively against counterfeiting and stand out from the crowd in style.

The hologram creates a three-dimensional effectwhich changes colour in a fascinating way depending on the viewing angle. Your seal can be customised - for example with your Logoone Graphic or a Text - so that each hologram is unique and difficult to copy.

Quality that convincesThe holograms are carefully applied by hand.

Despite its high durability, the surface can wear slightly over time with intensive use.
